God has a Tivo, and here is why….

So Jackie asked me a question on our trip to Athens Monday. It was about how God keeps up with everyone and everything at the same time? Even with all the time zones around the world it would not allow him to get any sleep. Then throw in the Universe, and all its hugeness. As you can imagine this would get very complicated. I have a hard enough time just watching something as simple as TV, and keeping up with Jack Beauer and how many times he screams at someone to give up the location of the bomb. Or how many nick names Sawyer from LOST can give one person. So how would God manage all this? With a Tivo of course. Lets go through the basics of this:

Pause: This is easy enough, plus we wouldn’t know we are being paused, so this is a non-issue. Although this might explain the slower development of some countries, What I mean by this is countries that require a lot of prayer and attention would get paused a lot and this can create a “tivo buffer” or “delay”, this then puts them out of sync with the rest of the world.

Rewind: This might explain a lot of the Deja Vu we experience. I know the matrix gave another explaination of this, but I think mine is better. Plus I would rather it be God’s fault and not some hacker in a leather jacket and that says wow all the time.

Fast Forward: This button is not on God’s remote, he sees everything. What kind of God would fast forward through something in our lives that might not seem important? I think he is a stickler for details and watches everything, even our commercials.

Record: I also have a feeling he records everything. *gulp* we wont go into those details. But much like Santa he is watching, and doesnt forget.

Stop: Yes this button is on there, but I sure hope to be long gone before he pushes it, but even if he pushed it tomorrow, I know I have no worries.

As for what kind of remote he uses? A Universal one of course! Anyway, This is why I think God has a Tivo, and he uses the heck out of it.

I hope no one is offended at what I have wrote, it is purley for humor and good times. Amen.

Top Ten Music Albums

Posted by Greg | Posted in Deep Thoughts | Posted on 26-02-2007

So Jackie and I were talking about music this weekend and an album I mentioned made me say it would be in my top 10, so it got me thinking, what really is in my top 10 albums that spoke to me growing up as a teenager and still stick with me now. So here I go. These are in no order:

Pretty Hate Machine – Nine Inch Nails
Flood – They Might Be Giants
Vs – Pearl Jam
Siamese Dream – Smashing Pumpkins
Nevermind – Nirvana
Downward Spiral – Nine Inch Nails
Achtung Baby – U2
Wish – The Cure
Ok Computer – Radiohead
Smash – The Offspring

After putting this list together, there is no way to get them all in there. I have other favorites, and this is list from memory. Not looking at my CD collection is a disadvantage. So if I was stuck on a desert Island, and wanted some music, these are the ones I would pick. Next time I will do top 10 songs. That might be a little harder.

I have a father named John
who is as Irish as any Leprechaun
he is always up for a joke and talks like the folk
from the land of where the drink rights a wrong

There once was a man named Gino
who sold his pizzeria to paddy mean o.
he flips his dough, and screams at the fow
but who else can make an Irish feta chino?

This Limerick is by Jennifer
John is the name of my daddy
He is the original paddy
He tells tall tales, turning fish into whales
I will always love my daddy!

Today is pancake Tuesday!!! Growing up this was my favorite day of the year!! Why, because this day once a year in Ireland I would get pancakes!!! I love Pancakes, particularly mom’s. They were huge! As big as a large frying pan, and they were rolled with Strawberry Jam in them. I would race home from school knowing that as many pancakes as I could eat awaited me. I have never been able to duplicate the pancakes made by her, but I have mastered my own pancake skills.

Today marks the beginning of lent, I think I am going to start observing this time of year again, 40 days to give up something I like. Today I am going to give up soda. Not just caffeine, but soda of any kinda. Sprite and Ginger Ale included. I am finishing my last sip of Dr. Pepper now, and that will be it for 40 days. I am also giving up alcohol. I just threw that last on in there. I struggled with it, but Soda’s seem small, so I am taking it up a notch. So April 7th 2007 is my goal date. I am also going to do more of something I should do everyday, and that is read the bible. I will pick a book, and read it everyday for lent, hopefully it will stick with me well after lent. If you want to know more about lent, go here.

Ok, so no Beer, Wine or Soda’s. Momma’s sweet tea is ok. So no lip if you see me drinking it. Ohh and Starbucks is fair…..draw back a nub.

The Amazing Scooter

Scooter has been doing really well since her eye operation on Tuesday, she woke up in pain Tuesday night, but some pain meds helped her go back to sleep. Today she is doing really well. She seems back to normal in her ways, she chased a squirrel this morning when I opened the door so that to me was a real good sign. Her eye is still swollen, and shaved so it looks weird, but that will all go back to normal over the next few weeks. She sends her licks to all those who asked about her.

My Week in Review……

Posted by Greg | Posted in Being a Nard | Posted on 15-02-2007

So without sharing all the gross details, I thought I would share some of the fun things I got to do this week. Last Wednesday night, I had a bit of a sore throat. By Saturday I was gargling cayenne pepper, because how could it hurt any worse? Sunday morning I was in the Perry ER being told I had the flu and bronchitis, and they could not treat me because I waited to long. Nothing like being kicked when your down. Monday I was so far gone I heard a crow outside my bedroom window and thought it was the grim reaper coming to get me. Tuesday I went to my doctor, because I got a bit of a scare, and needed checked out, turns out I did not have the flu and the meds the ER gave me are for UTI’s which was pointless. I had severe bronchitis I was told. My wonderful sister took such good care of me that day I don’t now what I would have done with out her. Apart from being dizzy and weak from not eating for a few days I think I am finally on the road to recovery. So there you have it, my pitiful week in review.

Thanks Jackie for taking good care of me, and all of you check on me. I appreciate it very much.
And Happy Late Valentines.

Do you have any coupons?

So Monday night started out like any other, Momma C is growing cappuccinos out of her head, and it cant get any worse. I am a college professor from County Kerry with no direction of where my hair is going, who is also a full time interpretor for a man named Bob. So do you get a feel for the evening already? Somewhere between the pure filth of clothes on the floor and mommas go wild. The idea of getting ice cream in 30 below weather just seemed practical. So online we have a coupon for buy 1 get 1 free at Coldstone. There is no printer, what is a boy to do? So in keeping up with technology and all it has to offer, a picture is taken of the coupon with the digital camera off the computer screen. The PLU is memorized, #149 if you need to know. Now we have all we need. Off we go. Lord Help Us.

Arriving at Coldstone, I decided to sit this event out, I maybe the brains behind some of these schemes, but sometimes I don’t have the nards, plus it was espically cold last night. So I hung back with Danny Bobby in the car and we sang songs, he mostly played air percussion with his butt. So In the clan goes to fulfill their order of 6 “gotta love it’s” for the price of 3. Upon ringing their order up, a situation arises that we all had feared. They only counted our digitally blurred coupon 1 time! As bold as my wife is, she speaks up to question the poor souls mistake, and he replies, do you have another coupon?” But of course, as the camera is wipped out again and presented a 2nd time to PROVE we had as many coupons as they needed. Without further question, but much confusion all discounts were approved. And that is how the Colson clan operates on every outing. No shame, No prisoners, just fun.

Today Five years ago in New York City Central Park on Bow Bridge, I asked Jackie to marry me. It was one of the most memorable moments of my life. This picture was taken moments after she said yes, duh! I like this picture. It is a nice one to have.
