Joey inspired me to try my hands at a small little vegetable garden. It seemed easy enough, you buy a few seeds, put them in some potting soil, give it some water, and hopefully in a few weeks you see results. So I went to Lowes and bought myself a packet of cilantro seeds and habanera pepper seeds. I got my potting soil laid out in my pots, and planted my seeds and watered them. I was very pleased with myself and excited at the prospect of being a father to some vegetables. Well not 1 hour later I come out to check on some things in the backyard and notice my pots and dirt that I so neatly tended to was all dug up and scattered everywhere. My heart sank, I never felt so violated. The chupacobra! I thought to myself, or maybe it was a bird? Well I did the best I could to repair the damage and hope that maybe some seeds were missed and still had a chance.

This morning I saw the little nard sneak his way up from the side of the house like a seed stealing ninja, he leapt from the bench to the steps, and then leapt and sat on my pot, licking his lips and filthy paws ready to dig into my cilantro seeds. I ran for the back door screaming the craziest nonsense I could think of to scare him off. He ran like a sissy nard up the tree where he belongs.

For now I have setup Scarecrow Scooter to help ward off the seed stealing beast, but I have a feeling it won’t last very long. This Zenful activity has turned into a very stressful one. I don’t needs stress right now.

A whole lotta wii fun!

I cant post this yet, which is torture, but I needed to write it down now, so this was actually written Monday May 7th.So this weekend goes down in the memory books as one of the biggest and life changing events so far in the life of Greg and Jackie. In the days leading up to Sunday night my heart was telling me that something was true, the signs where there, but the proof was not. We needed the proof. So Jackie bought a Pregnancy test, and 3 minutes turned into a life time. The result? || and there you have it. Sometime in January 2008 a new member of the Hogan family will appear. I said I knew in my heart long before the test confirmed that it was true, I have known for about 3 days, and seeing Joey and Kelly with Danny this weekend, as he sat on the table taking his first real bites of food I knew I wanted to be a Dad, I needed to be a Dad. My life is changing my heart is growing, and God has decided that now is the time. We did not plan this, God planned this. This reminded us that we are not in control, as much as we like to think we are. We have actually been trying to not have a baby. But God has new plans, bigger plans, and now we will honor that. It’s time to change course, and bring some new love into the world.

Acts of kindness go a long way when you put your heart into it. I learned that this past weekend. Joey, Dad C. and myself went to a house here in Warner Robins to help give a home a bit of a face lift. With about 15 other volunteers we all took on the task of painting a house and giving it a much needed face lift. 25 homes in Warner Robins were done, along with over 9000 across the nation.

During the day I made a point to take some time with the home owner to sit and talk, I wanted to know the person who’s home we were working on, this gentleman was a Veteran of the Navy who shared his stories of war, and ancestry. The topic of ancestry came up when he found out I was from Ireland. His family was banished here to the “New County” in the 1600’s to avoid being but to death by the British Government. They were sold in to slavery for seven years as punishment for whatever crime they committed. After seven years they were free to live in the “New Country” It was very interesting and enjoyable to take a few minutes out of the busy day to talk with him.
