Of all the times in life to get sick, getting sick 2 weeks after you bring a baby home is not the time! I was VERY sick around this time last year, and this year it seems is no different. However this time I went to the doctor instead of the ER. Plus I went sooner rather then later. I have acute pharyngitis. So 36 hours after some meds, I am feeling much better. I am not 100% but I am getting there. Thank God for Kelly, she has been in town the last few days and really has just stepped up and helped so much! Allowing me to get the rest I needed to recover. I have been trying my best to not get to close to Desmond or Jackie. That is hard, especially when they are both just so cute, all the time! I also have been giving Desmond a break from the camera. However I just got a new lens so that is all about to change! So I will post new pictures soon.

Fun with Photographs….

Just kidding about the diapers, but it sure feels like that many. Trash pickup was today, and I noticed their truck seemed a little lower to the ground after they left our house. They might be sending us a letter next week. Anyway, here are just a few photos from last night. As you can see he is just changing so much so fast! One of the cutest things he does is when he sneezes a few times in a row and he thinks another one is coming and it does not, he lets out this noise. Its like a loud sigh, it is very funny and very cute.  He also had his 2 week check-up yesterday and all went very very well. He is up to 9 lbs now! He also has grown half an inch!

So today was our first outing as a family! The doctors visit does not count. Of course about 5 minutes down the road we realize we forgot the diaper bag, amateurs. However it was not needed thank goodness. Our first stop was Dunkin Doughnuts for a nice Cappuccino Blast. A large, split into two cups, because thats how we roll. From there we set our sights on Target. It was by far one of the fastest trips we have ever made. No real reason for that, just wanted to make sure Jackie was taking it easy. Desmond slept through the whole experience, although he did peak open an eye when Dad made it to the electronics section, thats my boy.

Today also marked Desmond’s first bath! He loved it! He loved it so much he tee teed twice in one session so dad got bathed too, thats his favorite thing to do to daddy right now. Its surprise attack every time. Here are some photos to enjoy from today.

It has been an entire week now! It seems to just have gone by so fast! Nights have become days, days have become nights. There are days I have no idea what day is really is, it just seems like a Saturday or Sunday over and over. Desmond is just beautiful to look at, I can just look at him all day. So here are some things he is really good at, he is learning many new talents each day. Some he was just born with!

1. He hiccups a lot! It is really cute, according to my Nana it is an old Irish wives tale that a baby who hiccups is a thriving baby. He is definetly a thriving baby because that leads me right into his next talented trick.

2. He poops non-stop! I mean its just insane! Today I changed 3 poopy diapers in under 10 minutes. Sometimes he thinks it is really funny to poop, then as soon as I am about to close the diaper he just unloads again. It is like trying to stop a mudslide with a kleenex. It makes me laugh, and I love him all the more for making me laugh.

3. He loves zerberts, and when I whistle. If he is crying all I have to do is give a zerbert or whistle the Imperial March theme song from Star Wars and he just looks at me with awe and wonder. He is defiantly my boy.

4. Right now he loves to sleep. He gets that from his mom, she loves to sleep, they seem to have that in common, and that right now is a good thing. The last two nights have been really good. We still get up every two or three hours, but he usually will go right back to sleep after a feeding.

Anyway, here is some video of Desmond with the hiccups, again he is just so talented.

Burrrrrr…..

Wow, what a few days it has been! Little Desmond has arrived and is now home and enjoying life as a Hogan. From entering the hospital Wednesday night to becoming a dad by Thursday afternoon life has been a roller coaster. No one can prepare you for the labor and delivery process, no one! It is by far the most wonderful, scary, and emotional experience. There is nothing to compare it to. Jackie has more strength and determination then I could ever have, and I fell in love with her all the more.

Little Desmond is a beautiful little boy, and we are just so thrilled to have him to call our own, he has Jackie’s nose, and I think he has my chin. As time goes by we will begin to see all the new faces he has to show us. Ok thats all I have for now, because I gotta go, he is calling, it is feeding & diaper time.

As you all know, I have had a major squirrel issue at my house, and have threated retaliation a number of times. Well this past week I have taken the law into my own hands. A friend from work let me borrow his BB Gun. I do not really like to hunt, I am just not the hunting type. However I am the type who likes to give a squirrel a good shot in the butt cheek with a 10 pump BB shot. Here are some things I have learned in the past few days.

1. These guys are tough! It is going to take a lot more then a BB to take them out for good.
2. At first they started out stupid, taking a hit, and then getting back up to look at me for another hit.
3. Now they are just way too smart, they scatter as soon as I walk out the back door, one sign of me and they are gone.
4. One always stays behind, he is their look out. He is much smarter and quicker then the rest of them. He also calls to the others over and over again, warning them of my multi-pump wrath. I call him Ninja Nut.
5. I am also learning to speak squirrel, soon I will be able to understand them, and break their code.
6. I must say I feel very Jack Bauer like as I creep around the back yard hiding behind trees and diving behind bushes with my BB Gun, may God help them if one ever gets captured, the interrogation process will make them loose the nuts. I did knock one unconscious for about 30 seconds, but that did not slow him down. I also knocked one off the fence as he was running along top if it, I felt like I was at the fair. Maybe now they will think twice about eating all my lawn furniture, flower pots, grill, sprinklers, maple tree’s and pvc piping.

So there you have it, I am not sure who is winning, but they understand now when they see me, all they see is pain.
