Just for fun, instead of Desmond Thursdays, I am changing the theme to “Photoshop Thursdays”, because really everyday is Desmond Day! I love doing stuff like this, it makes me laugh. :)It could be interesting.
I do not get to get many pictures with my mom and Desmond, so today is a special post, I know it is Video Wednesday. I am still going to post a video, its an oldie but a goody. You will get to hear some Irish accents even from me a little, (Leigh Anne try to contain yourself). Sorry nonyoutubers, I do not have an external link for you.
My mom is in town, and she was all dressed up, so why not take some photos. Everyone be sure to tell her how nice her hair looks. Jenn did it, I think it looks great. So did Desmond, they were happy to see each other as you can see.
The video is from about 7 years ago. My dad found a baby squirrel, and Nana was fascinated with it.
Here he is watching TV. He loves TV. He also knows the sound the Tivo makes when navigating menus. That little “bloup” sound. It really grabs his attention. He will stop what he is doing and focus on that. Jackie says he also likes Army Wives. They watch that together. Ohh and the fauxhawk? Yes that’s my doing. I do it every chance I get. He has quite the reputation at church :) Ohh and his shirt says “Wee One” his Auntie Jenn got him those.
Sunday morning when I went to pick Desmond up out of his crib I pulled my back out, I lifted him incorrectly or something. It did not take much, but as soon as I lifted I saw stars of pain. Since then I have been crippled. I am hobiling around like an old man hunched over. But honestly, look at all the chub rolls!! At his last doctors visit this week he was up a pound to 19+ pounds. He was just shy of 20. He also grew 3 inches from a month ago! He is up to 27 inches now. He is one solid little fella. Ohh and he also got his 1st black eye yesterday. He took it like a true Irishman and shook it off and asked for a beer. If it turns into a shinner I will post a photo. I am hoping it does not. This is also my last week home with Desmond. I have today and Thursday, and then I am back to a full time schedule at work. I am real sad about this. I have had the most amazing time spending my days with him. If time permits he and I will have to cook up something special for the end of the week.
As summer comes to an end I am reminded of my summers out at my Nana’s house in Ireland. It was and is my favorite memory of my time in Ireland. I would walk for miles and miles through fields. I would be gone all day, from early morning to late at night. This picture shows me in my camouflage gear sitting over looking those fields, looking for my next adventure. My mom bought me those clothes here in Warner Robins in 1986 when she came here on her trip before we ever moved here. You could not find camouflage clothes in Ireland back then. I wore them all summer, they made me feel one with the country side. Also the watch I am wearing was my Batman watch. I just remembered that watch when looking at this photo. How fitting as I just saw batman last night, uhh and it was AWESOME!
Also here is a picture of my Nana and her house. Her house is 300 years old. It does not look it, but the walls are 3 feet thick of hand cut stone, she wired and installed all her own plumbing. She pretty much is amazing. Also is a picture of me in 1986 playing with her dogs in her front yard. Sunny is the black and white one, and Sunny’s mom Shelia is the other dog. Also notice I am wearing a Robins AFB T-Shirt, little did I know that 4 years after this picture was taken I would be moving right next door to the AFB. Pretty Wild.

Watching Desmond sitting up and playing is my new favorite pass time. I could just sit for hours and watch him play. Watching him on the floor interacting with whatever is around him is mesmerizing. I was certain as soon as I put the hat on him he would pull it right off, but he loved it. He loves his building blocks thanks Aunt Yell, and his new blue elephant, thanks Kya. He also loves his little bear we have now named “Andy”. He makes us laugh everyday, its like being on drugs. If I knew what drugs were like that is. I have heard they feel good. Desmond makes me feel good inside. Jackie and I laugh out loud every day because of him. He’s a Desbong….get it? Did I take it too far? Jackie is going to make me edit that. Really I don’t do drugs….promise. I am just that Corney. Ok well there you have it, Photo Tuesday, and me being a nard. Go Figure.
My first real pet was named Jimmy. He was a blue budgey as you can see. In Ireland my dad would breed birds. Lots and lots of birds. We had a huge avery out back, and there would be hundreds of them in there. Jimmy was a lucky one, because he got to live inside. Or maybe not so lucky. He survived many a scary adventure. Like the time a cat got in the house and tried to eat him. Or the time I burnt down the kitchen, he lived in the kitchen. He survived that event 3 times. Yes I burnt the kitchen down 3 times. I blame the toaster, and Saturday morning cartoons. How so you might ask? Well the toaster would not pop up when the toast was done. So I would put my bread in, push it down, and go back and watch cartoons. I would forget about the toast and it would catch fire and burn the cabinets and walls and well you know the rest. Nothing like running up the stairs to your parents who are asleep in bed and screaming FIRE! on a Saturday morning. They hated that.
In the picture I do not look very happy, well the reason is, Jimmy just took a crap on my head, you can see a little turd if you look real close. They say if a bird craps on your head its good luck. I think he was just trying to get me back for all the times I almost killed him. I guess I deserved it, Thanks Jimmy.
Desmond and I are feeling very Irish today.
Before Desmond was born, I was in bed at 9pm. I would look forward to 9pm! Because it was bed time and I could snuggle up and just be happy to finally be doing nothing! Ohh how times have changed. Now I look forward to 9pm because that means I have about 2 hours of ME TIME! Desmond is in bed, Jackie is in bed. The house is all mine. I get to surf the internets, or watch a movie, or catch up on my tivo shows. Ohh it is good times! Getting to 9pm is no easy task. Here is an example of what today was like.
Desmond woke up at 7am. Bathe Desmond. Bathe Dogs. Bathe myself. Feed Desmond. Clean House. Go to grocery store. Go to Perry to Feed Sue. Make Dinner. Chase Dutchy around the neighborhood. Clean Kitchen. Clean Desmond’s bottles and refill them. And just when I think it is safe to finally sit down I hear a weird noise from the kitchen in one of the dog cages, and this is what I come up upon….my day never ends.
He loves Foam Beds. This is not the 1st time he has done this either.

I am going to try a new approach for the website. I am stealing this idea from my friend Leigh Ann who I have never met! But are friends via the internets and SisNLaws. She has a blog and updates more often then I can keep up with. She pretty much kicks all our butts on posts. I cannot compete. She has been doing this thing where each day is a theme. Which is a fun neat idea. Kinda like when Q106 would do their “Two for Tuesday” before they sucked. I cant promise I will do it every single day, but I hope it will push me to post more. Maybe I will do a different one each week.
