This is more like it! A Happy Super hero. As you can see, it is a complete change of character. I much prefer this look! Tonight he will hit the town and gather as much candy as he can for his daddy! As cute as he looks I am sure he will score the good stuff!!
Halloween is here! Time for dress up! Desmond was not happy about his pig outfit, he crawled around the room aimlessly mortified of this outfit. As you can see he is to ashamed to even look at the Camera. Why oh why do I have to be a pig? This is something we will have to rectify! Stay Tuned….
Last summer I fell victim to peer pressure. All the cool kids were doing it, and I just had to try it too. It is embarrassing to admit this, but I just feel the need to share. I have to share. This is my therapy. I usually remain strong when it comes to trying new things. Particularly if it is hazardous to my health. My whole high school career I never fell victim. However in my old age I could not resist. I wanted to be cool again. I wanted to fit in. I just wanted to stand out from the crowd. I wanted a pair of crocs.
A person I work with, I will not mention any names. They just went on and on about how comfortable the crocs were, and they just were the best shoe ever. I could even wear them to work, and could get away with it! Everyone else was, so I needed to get in on the action. So for weeks I struggled with the idea of buying a pair. They were $30, THIRTY DOLLARS!!? yeah that’s what I said. I never spend more then $15 on shoes. I am that cheap frugal. So I started digging for some coupons. I found one that allowed me to get a pair for $24. So I gathered my pennies from my change drawer, and I ordered my crocs. I was very excited. A week later my crocs came in. I opened the box, and had my concerns when I saw the color, they were a little brighter then I was expecting, but I ignored my gut feeling and I put them on. I was styliN and profilN in my new kicks.
I head on over to my my sister-in-laws that evening and Danyelle takes a look at them, and I think she threw up in her mouth a little bit. She was brutally honest with how ugly my new shoes were. I told her to bite me, and ignored her. She is always giving me a hard time anyway, its how I know she maybe kinda likes me (Dwight Yoakam) so I didn’t pay any attention. The next day I went to work with my new kicks, again I pushed passed the gut feeling I had that “something” was just not right. Everyone is all “wow nice crocs Hogan…you squish a smurf on the way to work?” or “Hey Mr. Hogan…..those are some queer looking shoes you got there.” It was then I knew I had fallen victim to my own fashion no-no. It seemed I had a queer buy for the straight guy. I stayed at my desk for the rest of the day, hiding my feet from sight. The next day an email comes out for the Superintendent about dress code. Especially shoes. I was mortified. I was a Queer looking Smurf Squishin Croc Wearing Nard. There was no escaping this now. Still today people at work talk about the “blue crocs” of 2007. I still wear them, but only in private. I can’t bring myself to throwing them out, they are the most expensive shoes I have ever owned. I will wear them in private until I get my $24 worth. These are the crocs I wanted just so you all know. It was a pure factory mix up, or maybe my computer monitor needs adjusting.

Last week I asked for prayers for Amy, as she was not doing to good. Well it seems it worked, because she came out this weekend to our fall festival at church. Not only did she just show up with Dylan and Ivy, but like Xena the Warrior Princess, she came riding a horse! She was galloping around the parking lot swinging her warrior sword and crushing her mortal enemies…….Ok back up. I might have gotten a little carried away. She is doing better, and she did ride a horse! So it was not a complete fabrication. I have pictures to prove it!
There comes a time in a mans life when he sets out with a dream, and that dream is played over and over in his mind. The more you imagine it, the more perfect it gets. It becomes this beautiful vision of glorious proportions. My dream became a reality, and it was totally unexpected, and far sooner then I every thought. I thought I was going to have to wait years for Desmond to mimic me so I could mold him into this super geek, and we could be goofy together like father and son. Today my son has made me so proud. Desmond gives his very first Darth Vader impersonation, something I have been doing for years, because I am just that way. Honestly his is far better then mine and far better then I ever imagined it would be, and he is only 9 months!!! This video is a true gem in my collection of Desmond videos. Enjoy!
Today we had our 9 month check up! Desmond got a flu shot today. He was so distracted by the sanitary paper on the doctors table, he did not even feel his shot, did not even blink! It was so weird, but great! The stats for his visit are as follows: He weighs 21.90lbs putting him in the 75% range. He also is 30 inches long, putting him in the 90-95% range. He will be a tall boy. His latest thing to do is when laying on the floor he will scramble over to you and climb you. Then he opens his mouth real big and tries to eat your face off. Seriously, its a full on slobber fest face sucking. There is nothing you can do about it, he pins you down, and you are trapped. He is yapping a lot more, “duh” is a word he likes along with Baba, nana, mama, dada. They have all been said at one point, but no association with those words, he just spits them out at random. Here is a video if him trying to eat the cameras face off.
Also as a side note, sorry for the lack or quality updates, The Hogan’s are going through a life change, we are just so busy right now. Everything is fine, we are just packing, and trying to figure out logistics and what to do next. I will post a big long blog when things settle down again and give you the full update. Until then just keep us in your prayers. Speaking of prayers……pray for Amy.
Six years, SIX YEARS! How neat is that? In a small little town called Perry I married my love, in a beautiful garden on a sunny day. It could not have been more perfect. To celebrate the day Jackie and I went to Macon to eat her favorite food, Mexican! We pretty much could eat Mexican every day forever. Before we left she made me check my blood pressure to make sure it was OK. I had Mexican Thursday & Friday, so 3 times in 4 days was pushing it. The numbers were good though! I took it 3 times to get it to a number that was suitable. She doesn’t know that. I guess shes does now. Plus Mexican Day 1 was tofu Mexican, so that doesn’t count in my opinion. We then headed on over to the river walk of Downtown Macon. Which is very nice indeed. We took a moment to take our photo.
Desmond took his first real swing ride, and loved it! He seemed a little freaked out at times, but for the most part just ate it up! We also headed on over to downtown Macon where I took some photos for my photo website. I really could spend the day in Macon taking photos, there is too much to capture. Then we went off to Starbucks and enjoyed the evening there. It was a fun filled day with my family. Six years ago today if you told me this is what I would be doing I would have believed you, because six years ago today I knew the rest of my life would be an adventure of big and small proportions. Ohh and ten points to whoever gets the meaning of today’s title.
One day I came home and Jackie’s mom mentioned that one of Desmond’s favorite things to do is let the dogs out. This was something I had to see for myself. So over the weekend, I put the dogs in their cage and let Desmond down in the floor in the living room. Like a speeding rocket he makes a dash straight for the dog cage. I will just let the video say the rest.
Last week was a new mile stone! Desmond stood up! He stood up and just looked around at his mom, like he was saying “yea I’m a big deal now so watch out!”It is pretty incredible to think that not so long ago he was so fragile and helpless and needed everything from us. Now he just gets it his durn self. It is pretty incredible to watch. That one year mark is creeping up very quickly. I am making a prediction that he will be walking before he is 1 year old. gulp.
Ohh and some Video for the Week!
(nonyoutube) Watch for the part where he is practicing his Halloween Scary Voice. Also I think he is trying to say BAurger?

The Badge
Everyday when I come home, Desmond wants my work badge, I think he wants to see and play with it more then he wants to see or play with me! He loves it. It completely fascinates him. If I want his attention all I have to do is dangle it around and he comes a crawling and laughing. It is like it is his sole mission in life to get that badge in his hand and play with it and slobber all over it. This is an everyday thing after work for us.
Can you see the drool on his chin? yup that ends up on my badge.
