Desmond went and got his first hair cut yesterday, not too much just a little trim off the sides, it was getting a little too wild. So it got trimmed up and cleaned up a little bit. I think it looks great and still was able to keep all his curls. He had a great time playing with combs and water bottles that he could squirt himself in the face with.

It is hurricane season at my house everyday of the week. My little hurricane makes landfall a few times a day. No matter who often I clean up after this natural disaster, he strikes again, harder and with more fury. I have learned to adapt to working in these conditions.

My favorite and most accomplished skill I have learned in working in a tiny kitchen is “Extreme Cooking” you see as I am hustling back and forth from sink to oven to fridge to microwave and back again. I have to jump or leap over obstacles that block my way. It is such a fun game to play, you can’t avoid it. I have tried containing the hurricane in a neutral zone behind a very sturdy gate, but for a few short seconds I hear a “RAAAWWRRRR” then it just gets ripped and lifted and blown to the side, in comes the hurricane to destroy the rest of my world. Last night I walked on a waffle iron, stubbed my toe on a crock pot, had a cooling rack shoved between my toes, ohh and a Tupperware bowl thrown at my nutz. Good times.

Another fun game is leap frog over the gate, Jackie and I have broke 4 toes a piece on this little contraption. It is designed to block off a section of the room. It also makes a good manicure destroyer. (Who’s manicures? I will let you guess). The dog bowl is also not safe and a good water sport. You see Desmond loves water. Poor Scooter is constantly in a state of dehydration, because her water bowl is either dumped out as soon as it is filled, or it is out of reach where only I can get at it. Poor dog resorted to drinking out of the Christmas tree stand this year. Our tree didn’t stand a chance.

Hide the tivo remote is a fun one, this game back fires on me because if Desmond has not already hidden the remote I have to keep it away from him so I have hidden it. So now I can’t remember where I put it, so I have to look in all my usual places and his usual places too! Will he tell me where the remote is if i ask him? His answer is always RAWWWRR!

I sure do love that little boy, he makes me laugh constantly! He is walking all over the place, he is into everything and is makes life so happy and fun. Last night he was teething so bad, his back teeth are coming in. We took him to the park to get his mind off things and put him on the swing. This is what Jackie and I got to enjoy, and get to enjoy everyday.

Last night we did something new as a family, we went and cut down a Christmas tree! It was cold outside, which seemed like perfect weather for such an occasion. It was pretty neat really. It was like a drive through tree chopping. You pull into this tree farm. You drive up to the lady, she hands you a saw and a piece of paper that talks about not cutting your fingers off or something like that, I didn’t read it. You then drive down the hill and find a tree you want to kill. You then try and figure out how you can cram it into the trunk of your “car”. Everyone else had a truck. I felt like a mafia hit man trying to shove a body in there.

Once I got that bad boy crammed in there we paid for our kill and drove on home. I wrangled that monster out of the trunk and into our teeny-tiny apartment living room and stood it up. That is when all the scary bugs and creepy crawlies came flying out and swarmed our living room. It was like one of the 7 plagues of Egypt! They must have held on for dear life barreling down I-75. Because as soon as we reached home sweet home they made them selves known. I am just glad a squirrel did not jump out of it.

Once we put the lights on it, and lite it up we showed it to Desmond, we was unsure of it at first but warmed up to it. I am sure before the week is out we will have pulled it down a dozen times.

I am in the process of scanning old photos. As I find ones I like I post them. The first picture above is of my mom and her brother Kenneth. I thought it was a very sweet picture. I also see Desmond’s smile in that picture on my moms face. I love it.

The next picture is of my Nana and Granddad at their wedding. They both look very fancy indeed. They also look very happy.

The third is of my mom and I. It is one of those picture booth photos. If I remember correctly there was one at the train station in Limerick. Mom can you confirm this? Is my memory that good at such a young age?

The last three are of Myself and Jenn. I am also noticing how blond my hair was! I want that hair back! As a side note. I would like to tell you Jenn, you make me laugh, and I love you. Going through these photos I see that we always looked like we were having a lot of fun. I am glad we still have that today.

I guess this will be a combo post, here is a picture from the last 24 hours. I think in a week he will be sprinting. We are not ready! But he sure is! He loves that he can move himself around more. Guuuulp.

Such a Show Off!

Ohh, funny thing the other night, we were watching TV and I was clipping my nails, and Desmond was all quiet and mellow. Until he heard the clipping sound the nail clippers make as it cuts the nail. Every time he heard it he laughed the most amazing laugh. I almost cut my nails down to the bone, because I did not want him to stop. It was great.

Yes, our little boy has started eating food! We waited until the 7 month mark to do this. Some of you are probably saying why so late?!? Well, Jackie is the boss when it comes to this stuff. She reads all the books and what not, so I trust her completely with this. Desmond was a pro! He knew what to do, and seemed to enjoy it a lot! By day three when Jennifer came over to feed him he was ravenous and couldn’t get it fast enough, it was very funny. He wants to grab and hold the spoon for himself. He also has two more teeth up top that have broke through. Enjoy some more photos.

Sunday morning when I went to pick Desmond up out of his crib I pulled my back out, I lifted him incorrectly or something. It did not take much, but as soon as I lifted I saw stars of pain. Since then I have been crippled. I am hobiling around like an old man hunched over. But honestly, look at all the chub rolls!! At his last doctors visit this week he was up a pound to 19+ pounds. He was just shy of 20. He also grew 3 inches from a month ago! He is up to 27 inches now. He is one solid little fella. Ohh and he also got his 1st black eye yesterday. He took it like a true Irishman and shook it off and asked for a beer. If it turns into a shinner I will post a photo. I am hoping it does not. This is also my last week home with Desmond. I have today and Thursday, and then I am back to a full time schedule at work. I am real sad about this. I have had the most amazing time spending my days with him. If time permits he and I will have to cook up something special for the end of the week.

Watching Desmond sitting up and playing is my new favorite pass time. I could just sit for hours and watch him play. Watching him on the floor interacting with whatever is around him is mesmerizing. I was certain as soon as I put the hat on him he would pull it right off, but he loved it. He loves his building blocks thanks Aunt Yell, and his new blue elephant, thanks Kya. He also loves his little bear we have now named “Andy”. He makes us laugh everyday, its like being on drugs. If I knew what drugs were like that is. I have heard they feel good. Desmond makes me feel good inside. Jackie and I laugh out loud every day because of him. He’s a Desbong….get it? Did I take it too far? Jackie is going to make me edit that. Really I don’t do drugs….promise. I am just that Corney. Ok well there you have it, Photo Tuesday, and me being a nard. Go Figure.

I am going to try a new approach for the website. I am stealing this idea from my friend Leigh Ann who I have never met! But are friends via the internets and SisNLaws. She has a blog and updates more often then I can keep up with. She pretty much kicks all our butts on posts. I cannot compete. She has been doing this thing where each day is a theme. Which is a fun neat idea. Kinda like when Q106 would do their “Two for Tuesday” before they sucked. I cant promise I will do it every single day, but I hope it will push me to post more. Maybe I will do a different one each week.

Memory Monday – I will reflect on a childhood memory.
Photo Tuesday – I will post a random photo from the last 24 hours.
Movie Wednesday – I will post a movie. (no I wont waste toilet paper anymore, gesh!)
Desmond Thursday – It will be all things Desmond.
Funny Friday – I will reflect on something funny or embarrassing about myself.

Photo Tuesday
